  • Notes
    • Second child of Yehuda and Cypa Borenztain. When World War II broke, Harsh Chaim and his family were in Warsaw. Yehuda was able to pay somebody to transport Harsh Chaim and his family to the Ostrowiec guetto in 1941, so the family could be united in Yehuda's home. In 1942, when the first deportation of jews to Treblinka occured, his wife and child hid with the rest of the Borenztain family in a basement, while Harsh Chaim himself relied on his work papers to avoid imprisonment. Harsh Chaim's family was killed during the second round up of jews to Treblinka in Feb 1943. It is unclear form Golda Fisz's Shoah Foundation interview how Harsh Chaim was killed, but he did not make it to Auschwitz with his parents in 1944.
