    • Larry spent his early years on a small farm in rural Texas. He graduated from Yoakum High School and received a BA degree from Rice University in February 1944. In his senior year he began his service with the U S Navy and later received his commission as an ensign. He served on the LCIG 471 gunboat at the battle of Iwo Jima and received the Bronze Star award for bravery in action. Larry's professional career involved exploration and production of minerals for Magcobar and as vice president for Dresser industries for 29 years. He continued his career as a successful mineral management consultant until he retired at age 88. He was a life-long member of the American Chemical Society and the International Wine and Food Society. Larry was a renaissance man who loved and supported the Houston Symphony, the Houston Ballet, the MFA and other cultural venues.
